God Was Lying — What Genesis Actually Says

Milton says Satan lied to Eve. Genesis disagrees. The Bible itself reveals why Adam and Eve were really banished, confirms the serpent told the truth, and names the Nephilim as the heroes of Greek mythology.

The previous post ended with Satan's argument: the only God who fears your knowledge is a false God whose power depends on your ignorance.

The standard reading is that Satan is lying and Eve is foolish to believe him. But there is a test available.

Read the Bible.

What Genesis Actually Says

The serpent tells Eve she will not die from eating the fruit. He tells her her eyes will be opened and she will become more like God.

Here is what Genesis records after she eats:

Then the eyes of both were opened.

Satan said their eyes would open. Their eyes opened. Satan was not lying.

God had told them they would die if they ate the fruit. They ate. They did not die.

God told them eating the fruit was the crime. But the punishment God gives them for eating is specific: Eve will suffer pain in childbirth. Adam will have to labor hard to grow food.

Those are the punishments for disobedience.

The banishment is not listed as punishment for eating the fruit. It comes separately. For a different reason.

The Two Trees

After the punishment, God speaks:

See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, and now he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.

There were two trees in the garden. The tree of knowledge of good and evil, which Adam and Eve ate from. And the tree of life, which they had not yet touched.

God's stated reason for the banishment: he was afraid that if they now reached the tree of life and ate from it too, they would become immortal. They would become like gods.

Satan told Eve exactly this would happen: "Ye shall be as gods."

God had told them they would die. God was lying.

God banished Adam and Eve not to punish disobedience. He banished them to prevent them from becoming what he was.

The esoteric tradition reads this moment as the Bible confessing its own secret. The Demiurge, the false God, is afraid of human potential. The prison only works if the prisoners do not realize what they are capable of.

The moment they ate from the tree of knowledge, they began to see clearly. Another step and they would have been beyond his reach entirely.

How Eve Knew

One question follows from this: how did Eve know to trust the serpent?

God had told her she would die. The serpent told her she would not. She had no evidence, no prior experience of deception to guide her.

She knew because of the divine spark.

In the esoteric view, every human being carries a fragment of the Monad's light, placed in us before the Demiurge ever touched us. That light does not go out. It connects us to the true God even inside the false God's prison.

When the serpent spoke the truth, the light in Eve recognized it. Not through logic. Not through evidence. Through direct contact with the source that had been inside her all along.

The Demiurge can control what you see and what you are permitted to learn. He cannot remove what the Monad already placed in you.

The Nephilim in Genesis

Genesis confirms one more element of the esoteric account.

After the banishment of Adam and Eve, the text describes what happened when human populations grew:

The sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were fair, and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went into the daughters of humans who bore children to them. These were the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown.

The heroes of old, warriors of renown. That phrase points to every great hero in the ancient world.

Hercules, Achilles, Theseus. In the Greek tradition, these were the children of gods and human women. In the Bible's language, they are the Nephilim. Same beings. Different story.

The sons of God (Zeus, Ares, Apollo) are the angels who came down. The children they fathered with human women are the heroes of Greek, Roman, and other mythologies.

The Bible is doing something precise in this passage. It is absorbing the entire polytheistic world into a single monotheistic framework. Zeus is no longer a supreme god. He is a son of God, a lesser divine being who disobeyed.

His famous children are not legendary heroes. They are the Nephilim, a problem that had to be corrected with a flood.

The Bible is propaganda. It did not simply replace the old religion. It rewrote it, demoting the old gods and making the new God the only one who ever mattered.

The esoteric tradition sees this as the most important lie of all. Not just that the Demiurge lied to Adam and Eve. The Bible itself is the Demiurge's document. Designed to erase the older, truer understanding of who the gods were and what the universe actually is.

The next post answers the question that follows from all of this: if the true God is the Monad, who are you actually praying to?
